Bodily Truth Framework

What is Bodily Truth?

A grounded framework for understanding bodily regulation, adaptation, and long-term recovery.

1. Definition

Bodily Truth is a framework for understanding how the body regulates itself through ongoing adaptation and how these processes appear in observable patterns that form, change, and settle over time.

This framework provides a practical, observation-based approach to recognizing and working with the body’s adaptive regulatory processes when navigating long-term recovery from chronic illness.

2. What It Focuses On

The Bodily Truth Framework focuses on how the body regulates itself over time and the conditions that shape that process. This includes how it responds to different inputs and environments, how it moves between stability and strain, and how those shifts appear in observable bodily patterns.

3. Core Orientation

This framework is based on a consistent way of looking at how the body functions, with attention placed on baseline state, how adaptations shift over time, and how regulation can become more stable when supportive conditions are maintained and unnecessary interference is reduced.

It also considers how much capacity the body has to meet its current demands, and how regulation can become strained or constrained when that capacity is exceeded.

Together, these are understood as parts of a continuous process that shapes how the body responds, adapts, and coordinates over time.

4. What It Is Not

The Bodily Truth Framework is not a rigid protocol, step-by-step system, or symptom-based treatment approach. It does not assume that the same bodily expression has the same cause in every person, nor does it begin with a predetermined outcome and attempt to force the body toward it. Instead, the framework works through observing bodily patterns in relation to anatomy, physiology, environment, adaptive history, and current capacity.

5. How It Was Developed

This framework was developed through long-term observation of bodily patterns, informed by a systems understanding of modern anatomy and physiology and by classical Chinese medical theory. It reflects an integration of these foundations into a clear and practical way of understanding how the body regulates, adapts, and changes over time.

6. Applications of the Framework

The Bodily Truth Framework may include the use of supportive inputs such as supplementation, herbal medicine, and adjustments to daily rhythms, routines, and movement. These are not used to correct the body or target isolated symptoms, but are applied conservatively and in context to support more stable regulation and long-term recovery.

The framework can also be applied observationally through Bodily Truth Dream Interpretation, which considers how dreams may reflect aspects of the body’s current state during sleep without treating them as fixed symbolic messages or hidden meanings.

A second practice I developed within the framework is Bodily Truth Interoceptive Logging. This is a simple method of recording selected bodily observations over time. This practice aims to make broader patterns within the body more distinct, to improve understanding of personal trajectory, and to help develop greater bodily awareness and intuition.

7. Closing

Bodily Truth begins from the understanding that the body is continuously adapting to its internal and external conditions. It looks at patterns over time and asks what the body may be adapting to, compensating for, or attempting to regulate. The purpose is to improve bodily awareness and pattern recognition, reduce unnecessary interference, and support the conditions for more stable regulation and long-term recovery.
